Well, it has been a little while since I posted anything cupcake related and since I am getting better at piping I thought, I’d show you how I make my Rose Cupcakes. They do look so pretty and make a very good present or are for sure an eye turner at any party.
Now, for those particular cupcakes I went with my Spiced Carrot Cake Mix. But you can basically do any cupcake you like. I do have some recipes which I am gonna list, which I think go very well with my rose cupcakes.
Swiss Meringue Buttercream
So, this isn’t the quickest icing ever but it’s my favourite by far and it holds it shape really really well – it’s a swiss meringue buttercream. Instead of explainig how it is done, I leave you with a video from Cupcake Jemma as she is a jem at explaining it and you can properly see how it’s done.
Once you have your icing, colour most of it with some red food colouring and a small bit with some green. Mix well and start transferring them into your piping bags. To do the roses I use a special nozzle, which you can see in the picture. It’s a start tip but slightly twisted. This will help you get those roses piped perfectly. For the petals I used a triangle shaped nozzle, which was slightly rounded at one end.
Piping your roses, you start in the middle of your cupcake. Then you go around – always holding your piping bag straight, never at an angle. Once you reach the outside of your cupcakes, you can pull your nozzle away with a quick move and you are done!
The petals were really easy. I just used my triangle nozzle and gave a small squeeze and pulled away and there you have your petals.
Viola, my Rose Cupcakes – really easy and super yummy. I ended up decorating my cake too with some roses and I really love how it all turned out. They really do make an amazing show stopper and everybody also loved how they tasted. The swiss meringue butter cream is so smooth and pairs well with literally any cupcake mix.
How do you think they turned out? And will you be trying them out too? Let me know in the comments down below and don’t forget to follow me here on the blog, my Newsletter or on any of my social media Instagram / Twitter / FB (I’ll be forever thankful).
Until next time,
